BJP leader Nand Kishore Yadav unanimously elected speaker of Bihar Vidhan Sabha

In a significant development, seasoned Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Nand Kishore Yadav has been unanimously elected as the Speaker of the Bihar Vidhan Sabha. Yadav, a seven-time MLA from the Patna Sahib seat, where he has been serving since 1995, has a rich political career, having started his journey in 1978 as a councillor of the Patna Municipal Corporation and later serving as the deputy mayor of Patna in 1982. The election took place following a voice vote, where no opposition was encountered, and the announcement was made by deputy speaker Maheshwar Hazari.

Expressing gratitude, Yadav thanked prominent political figures, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP president JP Nadda, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav for the opportunity and the unanimous election. Acknowledging the responsibility ahead, he pledged to work within the established rules and sought cooperation to be the voice of all members. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed confidence in Yadav's ability to maintain the neutrality of the Chair, emphasizing the importance of running the House smoothly with equal representation for both sides.
